In a nutshell: chasing your passions, great personalities, family, friends and optimal health.
My earliest memories of sport are riding off down the driveway without the training wheels and standing on water skis for the first time... that weightlessness gliding never gets old.
Thanks to my Mum and Dad sport has always been part of everyday life in the back garden after school or on the quintessential kiwi holiday. Originally from Christchurch I grew up water skiing on the South Island's stunning West Coast and snow skiing at Mt Hutt along with the classic kiwi staple of rugby, cricket and tennis. When I wasn't on the snow or water I used to spend all my time with my brother running or riding through the bush trails in these awesome environments, I'm sure my love for the outdoors was born here.
Ski raced throughout high school and got the Coast to Coast bug while at uni. These days my playtime is about adapting to the environment at hand, more recently surfing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, ski paddling and yoga have taken priority.
I love cooking and travel; the different cultures, food and people you come across provide a profound perspective. More recently I've been collecting vinyls and 'trying' to learn Portuguese.
Started Oct 2011 and looking forward to many more!
I get up to go work with a great team of genuine individuals with brilliant sense of humours, who share the vision for living a balanced and fulfilled life. When you're at a Total Sport event it's sport 'sauvage', you see all the 'people' of sport. They're there for fun and personal achievement, sometimes the reasons are much more important than any championship or medal. Being involved with the processes that bring these events to fruition and the people is why I love it.
Washed cars, toilets, cleaned offices, painted houses, guided cycling and art tours in France, kayak guide and retail, worked on ski racing events, ski coaching, coached multisport for 7 years for some wonderful people.
Was quite the uphill battle; buggered about at Canterbury doing forestry science and human resources before a travel opportunity created a change to Massey's extramural programme where I finished with a Bachelor of Business Studies in Sport Business Management. It was one of the best decision's I've made.
